By Salma Yassin
The story of an ancient Saudi Arabian city “Dadan” was broadcast through the premiere of a 44-minute documentary entitled “Lost Treasures of Arabia: Ancient City of Dadan” via National Geographic Abu Dhabi channel.
City of Dadan located in AlUla governorate and existed over two millennia ago as a home for the Dadanite and Lihyanite kingdoms. It was a hub for trading and agriculture.
Thanks to archaeologists, historians and linguists, the film unveils secrets of this region while discovering new antiquities and writings that show some rituals and ways of living that prevailed in that era.
Viewers also tried out a simulated experience for the most important stories and narratives dated to those kingdoms.
The documentary is directed by Dirk Verheye and Inti Calfat, produced by National Geographic’s Iván Bouso and Rajul Chauhan in association with the Royal Commission for AlUla.
AlUla governorate is characterized by its outstanding natural and historical significance in North-West Saudi Arabia. Work is now underway to transform AlUla into one of the world’s premier destinations for nature, culture and heritage.
